Through Europe on the trails of Mozart

To do honour to the great composer and celebrate the 100th anniversary of the oldest Mozart festival in Germany, the multi-facetted international exchange constitutes a core element in the programme of the Mozartfest Würzburg. In 2021, this interchange acquires a whole new dimension: performers who were the artistes étoiles of former Mozartfest seasons embark on a journey to Europe’s Mozart cities as musical ambassadors and meet with top-ranking ensembles that have equally close ties with the Mozartfest. In a concentrated cycle during the last festival week, all soloists and ensembles will conjure up their Europe concerts’ aural delights in the Residenz. The artists’ tour will take the Schumann Quartet, who has been artistes étoiles in 2018, and Jörg Widmann to Prague and other artists to four other European cities which played an important role in Mozart’s life.
