This double CD is a magical promise of more to come. If only it could come true!
To us, Engelbert Humperdinck is far more than just the composer of *Hansel and Gretel*. Of course, this work has been a part of our lives since childhood—but the more deeply we engage with his music, the clearer it becomes how much of his oeuvre is scarcely present today.
The anniversary of his death was a special occasion for us to listen more closely and discover something new. The project “Erinnerung – Homage to Humperdinck,” initiated by Hinrich Alpers, opens up precisely this space: to experience familiar works anew, but also to bring hidden treasures to light—recordings by great artistic personalities as well as rarely performed or newly recorded pieces.
For us, this project is more than a tribute—it is an invitation to encounter Humperdinck anew: with curiosity, openness, and the desire to bring his music back into the public consciousness.
